Privacy Policy
Last updated August 25, 2026
PromiseGuard is a privacy-first Chrome extension for capturing and managing follow-ups. It works without an account and keeps your information on your device.
Information PromiseGuard handles
PromiseGuard handles follow-up text that you deliberately capture, optional source page titles and URLs, optional person names, due dates, completion status, and extension preferences. This information is stored locally in Chrome on your device.
How information is used
The information is used only to provide PromiseGuard’s user-facing features: capturing commitments, organizing follow-ups, scheduling reminders, creating daily summaries, returning to source pages, preparing follow-up messages, and exporting your saved data.
Sharing and remote processing
PromiseGuard does not transmit saved follow-ups, source URLs, browsing history, or preferences to the developer or to third parties. It does not use analytics, advertising, cloud synchronization, external AI processing, or remotely hosted code.
Data retention and your controls
Your information remains in Chrome’s local extension storage until you edit or delete it, clear the extension’s storage, or uninstall PromiseGuard. You can export your follow-ups as a JSON file from the extension settings.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use
PromiseGuard’s use of information complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data is used only to provide or improve PromiseGuard’s single purpose, is not sold, and is not used for advertising, creditworthiness, or lending.
Changes to this policy
If a future version introduces cloud synchronization, accounts, payments, analytics, or external processing, this policy and the Chrome Web Store disclosures will be updated before those features are released.
